Cambodia

Cambodia - February 2010...Monday - Flying from Kuala Lumpur to Cambodia I notice the thick air as we ascend through the clouds...

This dust/smoke/haze is all over south east Asia I noticed it ascending from Kuala Lumper and all the way across Thailand and Cambodia...There are some very dark streaks (perhaps from jet exhaust) through the sky at fairly high altitudes also...
Wandering around Cambodia for a day...
Banana shake and fried Veggies and rice for lunch...
Watching the sunset through the thick dust that fills the sky...

Wednesday - Bus to Sihanouk ville
Stayed one night in a room next to a loud night club.
Thursday - walked 6ks to the next beach to find a quieter guest house. First one I walked into was clean with cable TV and self contained bathroom for $3 per night. I hired a bicycle and rode back to pick up my bag from the other room then spent the day riding around checking out the area.
I spent 2 weeks around this area.

Good Beaches...

Good Beer and Food. $3 BBQ...
$2 Spring rolls...
$1.25 Pancakes with Banana and honey...
$2.50 Chicken and chips...

Chinese New Year Celebrations. Everyone setting up food offerings out the front of the shops and residences...
Went to Kampot for a few hours.
Here is the local motor bike washers looking proud of what they are doing...
on my way to Kep.
Kep is a small beach side town with not very nice beaches and not a lot of cheap food to choose from.

These ladies run the food stalls (in the back ground)....
As motor bikes and cars drive past they jump in front of them trying to stop them and cox them in to sell them food...

Some of the cars might have 15 or 20 people in them so it is worth risking their lives to get that many people into their hut!! They run up the road after the cars as they drive off, Interesting to watch!!

I only spent one night here and then caught a bus back to Pnom Phen the next day.
View from my room first night here...

I am now in Pnom Phen for a few days while I wait for for a Laos Visa.
My Laos visa should be readyMonday afternoon so I have booked a bus ticket to go to Sen Monoron Tuesday morning. It is up in the north eastern highlands and meant to be a lot cooler up there. Should be nice to get away from this heat for a few days.
